That is a quote I found when I browsed some reading quotes for my task. I think it suits me. I don’t know when or why I like reading. I even can’t remember whether my mom had read me a classic fairytale when I was a child before I sleep. What I can remember is that my Mom often helps me to remember some dua or salaah recitation before I go to sleep.
My exposure to fairytale such as Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty and The Beast or other Disney Princesses maybe started when I was in elementary school, from text book, usually ‘Bahasa Indonesia’ or English text book. I also know H.C. Andersen as the best author for children story in his era from a little biography of him on my ‘Pkn’ text book. And other ways I explore children stories is from television such as Japan animation, Disney, and.. Barbie.
I remember my Mom bought me Bobo - it is an Indonesian children magazine with the tagline “Bobo, teman bermain dan belajar (Bobo, friend for play and study). I think it is the best children magazine. Really, I mean it! :D Bobo has some stories such as Oki and Nirmala and Bona and Rong rong and of course, Bobo itself.
When I was junior high school, I like collected teen magazine, teenlit novel, and comic. Sometimes I discuss it with my friends too. At that time, I like Japanese culture so that’s why I like comic. I also started to like Hollywood since I like to watch western movies.
While when I was in senior high school, my interest moved to Korean culture since there was a Korean wave invasion. But my interest toward Japanese culture didn’t lose, just, somehow, decreased. My novel genre has changed as well. I was no longer read teenlit novel. It moved to metropop or other adult genre that brings more complicated plot story, not as like teenlit that usually have a predictable ending story (sorry). But I still keep some of my teenlit.
More grow up, I have developed my reading genre. I like science fiction, biography, historical stories, dystophia, romance and other genres. I like popular series too such as Harry Potter, Twilight Saga, Immortal series (by Alison Noel), etc.
